Saemoonan Church
새문안교회
Church · Seoinn Design Group + Lee Eunseok · 2019 · Jongno-gu
Address: 서울 종로구 새문안로 79
The sixth building of Korea's first Protestant congregation (founded 1887), a tall curved shell that reads as a modern take on a Gothic church front. The facade bows inward around a public forecourt, meant as a mother opening her arms, and a slim tower carries a suspended cross. There is a roof garden and café upstairs.
Getting in: Forecourt open on Saemunan-ro; ask at the entrance about visiting inside. 5 minutes from Gwanghwamun Station.
A lesser-known building that architecture fans seek out; facts from the pages under Sources, summary written by us.
