Jamsil: Tower, Lake and Olympic Park
Korea's tallest tower and the 1988 Olympic gate
≈2.8 km · ≈40 min walking · Moderate · Songpa-gu · Start: Jamsil station · End: Olympic Park station
Loop around Seokchon Lake under Lotte World Tower, then walk east to Olympic Park, built for the 1988 Games around a 2,000-year-old earthen fortress.
Stops
- Seokchon Lake (송파나루공원 (석촌호수))
Two lakes around Songpa-daero, ringed by a 2.5 km path and cherry trees. In spring it is one of Seoul's big blossom spots. - Lotte World Tower (롯데월드타워&롯데월드몰)
Korea's tallest building, 555 m and 123 floors (2017), by Kohn Pedersen Fox, its taper inspired by Korean ceramics and brushes. Seoul Sky is at the top. - Olympic Park (올림픽공원)
The 1988 Olympic park, entered through Kim Chung-up's World Peace Gate. Inside are the grassy walls of Mongchontoseong, a Baekje-era fortress.
Best time: Afternoon into dusk, so you can see the tower and the park in daylight and lit up.
Tips
- Seoul Sky tickets sell out at sunset; book ahead.
- The park is huge: the Peace Gate is near Olympic Park Station exit 1.
Access
Lotte World Tower and the lake path are level. Olympic Park is large, with long paved paths and gentle hills.
